Where to buy discount Disney gift cards and how to spot the best Disney gift card deals.

Using discount Disney gift cards for Disney World vacations is a great way to save money.
You can use Disney gift cards to pay for:
- Food and drinks at Disney World and Disneyland
- A Disney vacation package
- Disney resort hotel stays
- Disney theme park tickets
- Disney Cruises
- Merchandise and more…

It is possible to save hundreds of dollars by paying for all of this with cheap Disney gift cards.
Many places sell discount Disney gift cards and they each have pros and cons. It can be hard to know where to start.
In this post, I’ll share the top three places to get a Disney gift card discount and my pick for the easiest to use.
Where To Buy Discount Disney Gift Cards

You can get Disney gift card deals both online and in a store, such as at BJ’s Wholesale, Sam’s Club, and Target (but you must pay with a Target Red Card for the discount).
Other places may also offer discounts, but anything less than 4-5% is NOT a good deal.
Here’s how to get cheap Disney gift cards at my top three picks.
Target Disney Gift Cards

While Target doesn’t sell discount Disney gift cards per se, you can use a Target Circle Card to save 5% on Disney gift cards.
A Circle Card saves you 5% off of all your purchases, even Target Disney gift cards.
I especially like that there is a Circle Card Debit card so I don’t have to open a credit card to save on Disney gift cards!
Just add Disney gift cards to your cart on Target.com (or in a Target store) and use your Circle Card as your payment method at checkout.
Target Disney Gift Card Discount Pros & Cons
- Pros: can get them in-store or online, 5% savings
- Cons: must pay with a Circle Card
BJs Disney Gift Cards
BJ’s Wholesale is my first choice for Disney gift card deals because you don’t have to have a specific credit card or expensive membership to get discount Disney gift cards.
You now have to be a member to get a Disney gift card discount at BJ’s but fear not!
You can try out BJ’s with a free one-day pass and buy all of the gift cards you need for your trip.
You’ll get 24 hours to buy discounted Disney gift cards (and whatever else you want!) without purchasing a membership.
Right now the best deal is the $100 BJs Disney gift card that costs $96.99. This is a 3% savings and the other gift card options at BJ’s offer less than 3% off.
I like that you can pay for these discount Disney gift cards with any form of payment and that you can get instant access to these prices without a membership.
If you purchase these gift cards with a credit card that earns rewards or cash-back, you can save even more.
I buy them with my 2% cash back card so I save 5% total.
You can combine the amount from multiple gift cards on the Disney Gift Card site here, making them much easier to manage when you are in the parks.
BJs Disney Gift Card Discount Pros & Cons
- Pros: no membership required, can pay with any method
- Cons: only save 3%, have to buy them within 24 hours on the free pass
Sam’s Club

Normally you can save 2-4% on Disney gift cards when you buy this $50 Disney gift card.
This savings is ok when it’s 4%, but I would pass when it’s only 2% – you can do better.
These are only available to regular Sam’s Club members and membership will cost you $50.
Sometimes Groupon will offer discounts on Sam’s Club memberships (this is how I got my membership to – you guessed it – buy discount Disney gift cards!)
Recently I was able to save 10% on Disney gift cards at Sam’s thanks to a 5% cash back offer from DOSH. Click here to learn more about the cash back app DOSH.
Sam’s Club Disney Gift Card Discount Pros & Cons
- Pros: options to save more with DOSH, can pay with any method
- Cons: can only save 2-4%, must have a membership
Does Costco Sell Disney Gift Cards?
Costco is a great place to buy discounted gift cards so you might be wondering about Costco Disney gift cards.
Unfortunately, Costco does NOT sell Disney gift cards in any of its US stores.
However, Costco does sometimes sell Landry’s Restaurants gift cards at a discount (e.g. a $100 gift card for $79.99).
These can be used for meals at several restaurants in Walt Disney World including T-Rex Cafe, Rainforest Cafe, and Yak & Yeti in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Even though you will not find discounted Costco Disney gift cards, you can still save money at Disney with a restaurant gift card!
Using Disney Gift Cards for Disney World

You might be wondering can you use Disney gift cards at Disney World?
I’m happy to report that there are so many ways to use Disney gift cards for Disney World vacations!
When you are at Disney World you can use Disney gift cards to pay for food, drinks, merchandise, and almost anything else you can think of.
You can use Disney gift cards to buy your tickets before your Disney World trip, but I only suggest doing that if you are buying one- or two-day park tickets. Read why in this post on how to get cheap Disney tickets.
If you rent Disney timeshare points to save thousands on a Disney Deluxe hotel, you can use discounted Disney gift cards to add a Disney Dining Plan to your reservation.

And if you book your Disney World trip with a travel agent, you can pay for your ENTIRE package with Disney gift cards!
If you want help with booking a Disney World package (at no additional cost to you), I recommend getting a free quote from my travel agent partner Siera with Destinations in Florida.
If you want to earn HUNDREDS of dollars in travel statement credit toward your Disney World vacation, check out this post about Capital One Rewards!
Using Disney gift cards for Disney World that you bought at a discount is a no-brainer way to save money on your vacation.
Can I Combine Gift Cards?
Keeping track of a bunch of gift cards can be difficult, but thankfully there is a solution. Disney allows you to combine multiple cards into one card here!
I think this is one of the best features of Disney gift cards. You can move balances between cards and only have to keep track of one card on your trip.
The most you can move onto one Disney gift card is $1,000 so if you have more than that you’ll need multiple cards.
Note that if you have more than five to combine, you will have to transfer the balance to the primary card, then delete cards from your collection of “My Cards” as you go.
Summary
In summary, BJ’s offers the most reliable and hassle-free way to get Disney gift card deals.
Though you can definitely get a Disney gift card discount at other locations, you will need a special card or pricey membership to get access to the best prices.
I like that you only need a trial membership to buy gift cards from BJ’s and that you can use any payment method (even one that earns additional cashback).

This was so helpful, thanks! My Q is – if I have more than $1,000 in gift cards, how can I pay for my resort package? The disney website only allows you to use one gift card for payment (up to $1,000). Thanks!
Hi Kate! You may have to call to apply multiple gift cards to your package. Ir you could reserve with one then use the link in My Disney Experience to make payments with the other cards after booking.
@Kate Baehman, you can combine multiple gift cards up to $1000 on one gift card if you go to disneygiftcard.com. That would be faster than calling customer service with a bazillion gift codes lol.
At this time 3/22 there is a limit of 2 discounted Disney Gift cards at Sams Club
@Disney Gal, that’s true but you can get 2 of EACH of the different denominations that they sell. Hope this helps!
I use the AMEX Blue Cash and buy gift cards at grocery stores. It’s best to buy other items in tandem so AMEX doesn’t track that you’re buying gift cards, but with that card you get 6% back at grocery stores.
Unfortunately, does not give 6% back at wholesale clubs like BJs.
There can be unforeseen issues with using Disney gift cards to purchase theme park tickets. Recently we purchased 4-day tickets to Disneyland with gift cards using the 5% discount through Target. But, we wanted to upgrade the tickets to 5-day instead. Unfortunately, Disneyland makes you buy new tickets and then they refund the original tickets to the original form of payment. So, to upgrade, we had to buy more gift cards and then wait 6-8 weeks for the other gift cards to be refunded. So, we were not able to get the refund done before our trip, so now we have over $1,000 in Disney gift cards that will have to wait to use probably on next year’s trip. Plus, when we bought the tickets, I had to make separate transactions because there is $1,000 limit on individual gift cards. We’ll, after the first ticket purchase, I transferred funds yo the same gift card and made a second purchase of tickets. Now we’ve run into a problem of Disney trying to refund more than $1,000 to the same gift card. Such a hassle that it caused trying to save $68. Just thought I’d share since I wish I had none this before since I would have simply used my Disney rewards credit card instead to make things simpler to change if need be.
Hi Leah! Thanks so much for this post – it just saved me a ton of time and money. For several years I have financed my family’s WDW trips using Disney gift cards that I purchase with my Target RedCard to save 5%. The problem is that it takes a long time to stockpile the needed amount in gift cards to save 5% on the whole trip, as my RedCard credit limit is $700. There’s a long lag time between paying off your account balance and getting your available credit to jump up again so you can purchase more Disney gift cards. So it takes several months and lots of hassle to pay off the whole trip using only gift cards purchased at Target.
That’s right where I found myself today – one week before our Disney cruise balance is due in full, and still $1500 short in gift cards. I thought I wouldn’t be able to get 5% off on the total after all, but then your post led me to the one day pass at BJ’s, where I not only was able to buy all the gift cards I needed at once, but I was also able to use my rewards credit card and ultimately save even more! And it didn’t even require a membership purchase to BJ’s.
THANK YOU for this fantastic advice!!!
yay Amanda that is wonderful!! Exactly why I wrote this post. So glad it was helpful to you and enjoy your cruise!
Just checked BJ’s and spoke to customer service. As of January 2021, they no longer offer an On-Line Only Membership for $10.00
Max $1,000 on Disney gift card after you transfer; maximum purchase amount is $500.
If you go to Kroger or Harris Teeter. they often have 4X FUEL POINTS. You have to activate this coupon on your Kroger/Harris Teeter account. (otherwise you only get double fuel points) So for $250 in gift cards gets you $1 off per gallon at the fuel pump. up to 35 gallons . we take 2 cars and save $35… that is 14% savings or 7% savings if there is no 4X coupon savings at the time of purchase.
That is an awesome tip, Dave! Thanks so much for sharing.
We do this!!! It saves a bunch!!
@Dave, yes! I do this, too. It’s the best savings out there!
How is Bj’s saving more than the 5% at Target?
Hi Tam! I prefer BJ’s over Target because I can use any credit card to buy the gift cards, including mine that earns 2% cash back on all purchases. So that brings my savings to 6% which is better than Target. Also if you don’t already have a Target RedCard you’d have to open a new card just to get the discount. But with BJ’s you can use any card you may already have. That’s why I prefer it to Target.
@Leah,what credit card are you using?
@camille Tortora, I have a small business card that I use since Disney travel is a business expense for me 😉 However, anyone can use the Citi Double Cash card and earn 2%. I also like the incentive to pay off your balance in full every month.
Dp the sosney. Gift cards exspire and if i dont use all the money what happens can i use them at hone in stores
They don’t expire and you can use them at Disney stores and on shopDisney.com
