Homestead Update: The Egg Report & The Tomato Plant That Ate the South

IMG_0635I thought it is time for an update on our homestead, if you are into these things. I shared a tour of our little homestead earlier this summer, and now that the garden is winding down there is much less to share.

However our chickens are laying 7-8 eggs each day now so we are thrilled! We have been letting them “free range” after they are done laying each day and they love the freedom. The sight of chickens running will never cease to be funny to me.

Has anyone else ever tried to photograph chickens and had them constantly turning their butts toward the camera? What is going on with these birds?

I have one tomato plant still alive that is producing a ridiculous amount of tomatoes. I swear it is trying to take over our home (and possibly has even greater ambitions). At least I won’t have to buy tomatoes until likely November.

Thank you sister! I should have included the chickens' names, as given by RC: Tinker Bell, Brownie, Peacock, Henny Penny, Silvermist, Towmater, Elise and Little Squawker. Great names, in my humble opinion.
