Easy DIY Gift Ideas (That Even Non-Crafty Folks Can Make!)

Ok, I am definitely not the most crafty person out there. But when holiday time comes around, I try to create some thoughtful, handmade gifts for my family and friends. I find they carry so much more meaning than store-bought gifts.

So here are some DIY gifts I have made in the past or want to try to make this year! Maybe one will spark the crafting spirit in you. 🙂 They are all simple projects that even non-crafty folks like me) can complete.

You can find more on my DIY & Craft Presents board on Pinterest!

Seasoning Mixes

A few years ago I gifted seasoning mixes in little jars such as these from 100 Days of Real Food. The Cajun seasoning I gave, aka “Emeril’s Essence“, has ended up being my favorite seasoning mix of all time! I keep a batch of it in my cupboard at all times.

DIY Sugar Scrubs

I’ve been using a homemade sugar scrub for a while now, and it does wonders for dry, rough skin! Here is a nice fresh recipe from A Blissful Nest that would be easy enough for anyone to make.

DIY Marbled Ornaments

My twin cousins (Sarah and Melissa) share incredible DIY projects on their blog, Alice & Lois. While some of their projects are admittedly for the more advanced crafter, these DIY Indigo Marbled Ornaments are quick and easy – just my style! They seriously take 5 minutes and are made with fingernail polish… head over to their blog to get the full tutorial!

Scented Rice Heating Pad

Ok, my sewing skills are completely laughable, but I am proud to say I successfully made one of these Homemade Rice Warmers from Kemaily on my sewing machine! And it even looked halfway decent! I used lavender essential oil in mine and it is the best. I decided to keep one for myself.

Simple Handmade Jewelry

One of the first DIY gifts I made were simple drop earring, such as these from Mimi Jewels (sorry, these exact earrings are no longer available). You only need a small pair of pliers and jewelry-making supplies, which you can order in small quantities from sellers on Etsy.

I also love these easy-to-make earrings from Glass Poppies on Etsy.

Homemade Brownie Mix

I love to give this homemade brownie mix in a jar. It is easy to make and the brownies are really very good! Sorry, the label should look a lot nicer than this, but I ran out of color ink right before I printed the labels. 🙁 (Reason #47 I am not a good crafter)

I hope you find something that inspires you! There’s still plenty of time to whip up a homemade gift before Christmas. Please leave any other ideas in a comment below!
