Coleslaw is one of my 2 year-old daughter’s favorite foods… along with fried okra and hushpuppies. Can you tell she’s growing up in the South? 😉
I used to really dislike coleslaw, though I have come around and find that I really do enjoy it, provided that it is NOT too creamy or too sweet.
When I make coleslaw dressing at home, I usually just eyeball the amounts and shake it up in a mason jar.
But I figured it would be helpful (to me and hopefully others) to actually measure and write down my recipe for a coleslaw dressing that is just right – if you like your slaw like me, that is – not too creamy or sweet.
Basic Coleslaw Dressing Recipe Ingredients
These are the ingredients you’ll need to make this basic coleslaw dressing:
- Mayo – we love Duke’s but of course any brand will do 😉
- Apple cider vinegar (smoother than white vinegar)
- Sugar
- Salt and pepper
- Celery seeds (gives it the characteristic coleslaw taste)
The best part is that you just toss all of the ingredients into a Mason jar and shake it up.
Don’t buy dressing when it is so easy and cheap to make! Any questions? Leave a comment below.
