Affordable Things To Do In New York City

I was compensated for this post but all opinions are my own. New York City

New York is a city with so much to offer. When I think about NYC, I think about the huge billboards and the endless amount of designer shops.

But, what if you don’t have a huge budget for your trip? Well, there are plenty of ways to save money, and there are low-cost attractions and entertainment options too. Read on to discover more about the affordable things to do in New York City.

central park

Central Park – There is only one place to begin, and this is with one of the most famous tourist attractions in New York: Central Park.

This 840-acre park seems a little bit of place considering it is sat in the middle of buildings, but that is what makes it so unique. It is a beautiful area, boasting a zoo, sports fields, reservoir, boating lake, and much more.

Admission to the Central Park Zoo is $13.95 for adults and $8.95 for kids, which is a bargain for any activity in New York City!

Staten Island Ferry

Staten Island ferry – One of the great things about the Staten Island Ferry is that not only does it provide the most amazing views of the famous city skyline, but it is free too!

The ferry will take you across the bay to the fifth borough and back again. It will only take 25 minutes of your time, but it will certainly be a memorable 25 minutes.

9/11 memorial

9/11 Memorial – If there is one place to visit during your trip to New York, it is the 9/11 Memorial. This was designed by landscape architect Peter Walker and architect Michael Arad to pay respect to the thousands of people that lost their lives on that horrific day in September.

the metropolitan museum of art

Visit The Met The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a massive museum that is situated on one side of Central Park. You may think that it costs $25 per ticket to visit this museum, but this is actually a recommended amount if you are a resident of New York state or a student in NY, NJ, and CT students. This means you pay what you wish.

You could easily spend days here, as there is so much to see. However, some of the main features include the Greek statues, the European art, and the Egyptian collection.

Watch a show – You may assume that a show on Broadway is out of your price range. However, there are many different ways that you can lower the price of the tickets.

For popular shows like Sleep No More, you will be able to secure better-priced tickets if you shop around online in advance. Moreover, if you’re not fussy about the time or the day you see a show, you will be able to benefit from some great deals.

As you can see, there are a number of affordable and low-cost things you can do in New York. There are also some great ways for you to save money on attractions that would usually be expensive, for example, Broadway shows.

I suggest booking your accommodations through Orbitz to take advantage of their 15% off promo codes. Many hotels in NYC are independently owned which means promo codes WILL work on these hotels.

If you follow the suggestions that have been mentioned above, you will be able to have a great time in New York without spending huge amounts of money.
