I’ve had a few friends try MoviePass – the in-theater movie subscription service – and I’m curious. I’m not a big movie-goer due to the cost involved, but I think I might have to give the service a try!

For a limited time, MoviePass is offering a $7.95/month plan that allows you to three movies per month and a three month trial of iHeartRadio all-access. They also offer a $9.95/month plan that allows you to see a new movie every day if you wanted. And they now boast that 91% over movie theaters are included in their service, so you should be able to use your MoviePass at most locations.

Since the cost of one matinee ticket at my local AMC is over $8, I figure if I see one movie per month it will pay for itself. But will I actually make it to see one movie per month?? MoviePass is hoping I don’t, but what do you think?

Please leave a comment below and let me know what you think about this offer. Are you considering MoviePass for the summer movie season?

Hi Leah:) . My husband and I have been using a different but similar service (Sinemia) for about 4 months now and we really love it. It’s fun to look forward to what we might want to see the next month and plan our date nights. We’ve seen some movies we might not otherwise have seen without the plan, since one always ends up being free. I almost did Movie Pass but they didn’t have a version for couples so I went with Sinemia instead. I think you might have fun with it, if you give it a try. Do they allow you to pay monthly? That would be my suggestion. Then you could cancel if it didn’t turn out to be for you.

Hi Roni! Thanks for the help with the link – it’s fixed now. You are awesome for letting me know. 🙂 I haven’t heard of Sinemia so I’m checking that out now! Thanks again!

I think about this just like I think about Annual Passes to WDW – it depends on how often you go. I’m not a big movie goer, BUT I would consider the $9.95 movie a day plan because if I went to more than one movie a month, I’d come out ahead. In fact, when I heard this announcement yesterday I investigated and am thinking about doing it. The $7.95 plan might be even better for me, even though I have no interest in the iHeart trial, because as I said, I don’t go to the movies often. I have a brother that goes ALL THE TIME, so I’m definitely going to tell him about it.

Thanks for your input, Cathy! Yea, for those already going to the movies at least once a month it’s an awesome deal!
