Almost every month a box from Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program arrives at our house, and I estimate I save about 25% off of store prices with this program. If you aren’t familiar with how to use it to save time and money, here are all of the basics!
Subscribe & Save is a program available to Amazon Prime Members that allows you to have items that you use regularly delivered (for free!) at a set interval to your home. Here are the two best things about the program:
Flexibility: You choose your delivery frequency (anywhere from monthly to every 6 months), you choose your delivery date, and you can cancel items at any time, even after only one delivery.
Savings: If you have five or more items in your order, then you get an additional 15% off of Amazon’s low prices. You can save even more by “clipping” some of the many digital coupons available on Amazon for S&S items.
After coupons and a 15% discount, your final price will range from competitive to how-are-they-staying-in-business cheap! Plus it is delivered to your door for free, saving you time and gas money.
Finding Subscribe & Save Items
First, here is how I go about finding items that have a Subscribe & Save option. You can use this link go to the Subscribe & Save home page.
Or to get there yourself, head to the Amazon homepage and mouse over Departments (right under the Amazon logo). A menu will drop down, and from that, mouse over Beauty, Health and Food. Then click on the Subscribe & Save link. From there you can search just for products that have a Subscribe & Save option.
Adding Items to Your Order
Next, here is an example of how to add an item to a delivery and use a coupon:
First, click the button “Clip Coupon & Save” below the price. If there is a coupon available it will show up here. You will be able to see your coupon savings when you review your subscription in the next step.
Then select Subscribe & Save (as opposed to a one-time delivery) and click the button to review the subscription. You will save 5% on subscriptions until you reach the 5 item minimum for the delivery. Once you have 5 items in your delivery, the price shown will automatically reflect your 15% savings.
Here is what you will see when you review your subscription. This shows my Coupon Savings (25% off) and Subscribe & Save discount (15% for me) for a total price of $4.38 for this Gevalia Signature Blend K-cup 12 pack. At $0.37 per K-cup this price is well below what you’ll pay for this item on sale at big box stores such as Walmart and Target.
As I mentioned, you can always change your mind and cancel a subscription at any time, even before it ships. You can review and change your subscriptions at any time by visiting the Subscribe & Save page in your account. To get to it from the Amazon homepage, mouse over Your Account and click on Your Subscribe & Save Items from the drop down menu (or use this link).
From here you will be able to review all of your upcoming subscriptions. Amazon also send an email reminder to review your subscriptions about 5-7 days before they ship.
Adding an item to your monthly order basically just locks in the current price. You can always cancel it later (up until a day before your order ships), you can never get the low price back after it changes! For that reason, I grab items whenever I see a low price and often times cancel the subscription later if I have changed my mind or found a better price.
What to Order Through Subscribe & Save
Now I’ll share what items I often order through Subscribe & Save. All prices are subject to change at any time and include the 15% discount and any available coupons. Maybe some of them are things you haven’t thought to look for on Amazon before!
#1 Household Supplies
I strongly dislike lugging giant packs of toilet paper or paper towels through a store, out to my car, then into my house. I enjoy it immensely when they show up on my doorstep for the same price as I’d pay in-store or cheaper! I also order our trash bags, tissues, kitchen sponges and more with S&S. Here are some of my favorite items:
Kleenex Ultra Soft Tissues, White, 120ct, Pack of 8 – $9.01
Cottonelle Ultra Comfort Care Toilet Paper, Double Roll Economy Plus Pack, 32 Count – $13.57
Glad ForceFlex OdorShield Tall Kitchen Drawstring Trash Bags, Fresh Clean, 13 Gallon, 68 Count – $10.49
Scotch-Brite Multi-Purpose Scrub Sponge 521, 1-Count (Pack of 12) – $6.79
#2 Drinks & Snacks
We get our coffee, tea, and snacks almost entirely through S&S at this point. The prices and selection can’t be beat. I’ve also ordered gifts for family and friends for this category (I like to give consumable gifts!) I just get the item once then cancel my subscription if it was a gift.
San Francisco Bay OneCup, Breakfast Blend, 80 Single Serve Coffees – $24.65
Larabar Gluten Free Fruit & Nut Food Bar, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, 16 – 1.6 Ounce Bars – $11.69
Maxwell House Ground Coffee, Original Roast, 11.5 Ounce– $2.56
Planters Deluxe Whole Cashew, 18.25 Ounce – $5.25
TERRA Original, Sea Salt, 1 Ounce (Pack of 24) – $12.82
#3 Baby Supplies
I have always bought diapers and wipes through Amazon and I can’t get over how expensive they are in-store! If you are an Amazon Prime member, you can join Amazon Mom and get 20% off all diaper subscriptions. Here are a few things from the Baby & Child Care store I have bought regularly:
Huggies Natural Care Baby Wipes Refill, 624 Count – $10.46
Pampers Swaddlers Diapers Size 4 Economy Pack Plus 144 Count – $38.13
Amazon Elements Baby Wipes, Sensitive, Flip-Top, 80 Count (Pack of 6) – $9.34
#4 Beauty & Personal Care
I have bought all of the following through S&S: shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, face lotion, body lotion, sunscreen, mascara, eye shadow, body wash, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and probably other things I’m forgetting. I often grab products when they are super cheap due to coupons and my S&S discount.
Pantene Pro-V Shampoo, Ultimate 10 with BB Creme, 12.6 Ounce – $2.76
Maybelline New York Great Lash Big Washable Mascara, Brownish Black 132, 0.34 Fluid Ounce – $3.22
Irish Spring Gear Body Wash, Exfoliating, 15 Fl. Ounce – $2.33
Olay Regenerist Regenerating Lotion With Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 15, 2.5 fl. Oz. – $11.44
I’m sure there are many more items I could add, but you get the picture. You can save your family lots of time at the store and lots of money using Amazon’s Subscribe & Save program. Do you Subscribe & Save? If not, is there something holding you back from giving it a try? Please leave a comment below!

This is so AWESOME! I've put a bunch of stuff in my basket. I'm doing my weekly shopping trip today and have made a list of the things I buy on a regular basis so I can jot down the prices to compare. The Cottonelle and the sponges are definitely a great deal! The kids use Tom's toothpaste and the SNS price is definitely better. I'm so excited!
